Kinja'd!!!

I KNOW some of you must have some good, simple crock pot recipes. Share. Plz. 30th anniversary Miata for your time.

Oh and to whoever told me to buy a Victorinox chef knife months ago.... You are a Saint. I can’t believe I’ve lived my entire life up to this point with bad kitchen knives.

I cook a good deal, but I must have some kind of brain defect where cooking isn’t fun unless it’s a lot of work, because I make meat pies regularly and still don’t have any crock pot recipes per se.

Get a beef roast. Put it in the crockpot with a cup of water or beef broth , a healthy splash of Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, minced garlic from a jar, onion (fresh or dried), and a bunch of cut up carrots and potatoes. C ook on high for 5 hours or on low for 8 hours.

Get a packet of precut beef stew meat, or cut up a hunk of meat on your own. Dump in a pre-made beef stew packet. Dump in a bunch of diced potatoes, sliced carrots, maybe some mushrooms. Add water. Cook as above.

You can also make a breakfast casserole that can cook overnight. Eggs, cooked bacon, cooked sausage, cheese, frozen hash brown potatoes.

Also, you can google “crock pot recipes.” There are literally thousands of them.

I have never cooked something in a crock pot that didnt taste like a crock pot. I just don’t care for them.

Crap that was unhelpful uhh beef stew is a good one.  Throw stew like ingredients a crap ton of garlic and some browned meat in there are let low and slow do it's thing.  Bonus points for using coke in the broth. Sounds gross, is tasty.

Take pork shoulder , brown on all sides, throw in crock pot with tasty tangy liquid of some sort ( really a lot of options there), cook low and slow all day. Deliciousness will result.

Gotta think this would be awesome with pork or a pot roast as well.

Pulled pork.

1) Go to butcher, as for Pork Butt. 5-8 lbs is ideal.

2) Dump salt & pepper on all sides. More than you think you should.

3) Smash a few cloves of garlic and toss in there .

4) Cook in crock pot for 10-12 hrs.

5) Remove meat & shred w/ 2 forks.

6) Add BBQ sauce to taste.

In my experience, chicken and pork tend to come out dry. Probably too little fat content.

Pork shoulder and pot roast have the fat you need.

Lots of good stuff here.  The important thing in my experience is to use meat with enough fat content to keep it from drying out.  That doesn’t mean you can’t use low fat meats like chicken and have them work out, but your margin for error is narrower.  Contrary to what they may tell you, you can cook too long, even in a slow-cooker on low.

Beef roast is one of my top contenders at the moment. I was overwhelmed with all the online recipes!

I wish I had two crock pots so I could have two meals going at once...

I'm looking for a set-it-and-forget-it meal, so currently leaning towards a roast of some sort, and pork ribs

They’re all essentially the same. Meat + liquid + spice. It’s very hard to screw up anything in a crockpot.

Of course. That’s what crock pots are good for. Just know that you can’t set it to high, leave it for 12 hrs, and expect it to not come out dry.

Good luck and bon appetit !

They still sell them. It’s not like all the crock pots have been made and you can only acquire another when it’s previous owner dies.

I too have a good knife. I very much support the garbage kitchen knives for most things. But when you need a good knife, the good knife is a life saver.

My go to base for the crock pot is 2 cups of dry beans with 1/4 tsp baking soda and 2 tsp salt. Cook on high hours. Drain. Add whatever. Do not add acid before beans are done cooking.

Whatever u sually consists of some combination of onions, garlic, chili powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt and pepper.
